Difference Between The 90's And Now-Music and People

Difference Between The 90's And Now

Ever sat in a quiet place for a while and contemplate how life was 10-15 years back and now? Worry not as you are one of billions(yes, billions and not millions) of people who become nostalgic at moments notice at the thought of life in the yesteryears..

So often it happens that i slip back into thoughts and memories of the 90's which were really the best years of my life. Ofcourse i am the 80s kid and cant remember much about the 90's but all i know is that the TIME and PEOPLE were, simply put,NICE and ofcourse MUSIC was glorious and melodious and still much much much better that the trash we have
now.

Back then, families were much united and used to do almost everything together from going out for dinner to parks. Sunday comes and the first thing i remember was dad getting the Sunday paper and some snacks ofcourse. I would wake up lazily on weekends and the bright sun only made my day much better. Later on we would go out to shopping centers and i wold have puppy eyes to show for to mum and dad hoping they would get me my favourite snickers and toy cars. The trick always worked. Then, as was the norm, relatives would come over and we would have a smashing time till late. Mind you, in those days, a visitor was a welcome sight unlike today where you can smell them from far away and come up with all sorts of excuses to avoid them. I also remember that every night we would sit together after dinner and talk about how our day went.
Compare those days to now and you get a heavy dose of melancholia pumping in your blood levels. Everything has gone topsy turvy and nothing seems 'united' instead you end up with a feeling of You against the world. Everyones in their own world fuelled by the hectic lifestyle. Even lunch and dinner is had at a breakneck speed. That too junk food. Evening comes and the last thing you would hope is a lengthy family conversation. Just a while into it and your head starts to get a fuzzy feeling and you dash to your bed. Your eyes are sore, and head heavy from the hectic work schedules. No sooner do you turn to your other side, you are out and cold. No doubt there are still families out there who still make efforts to sit together and have a warm conversation but lets be honest and admit-its relatively few and sadly numbers are going down..

Then there was the melodious music to go by. And what songs there were; From Vishwatma to Mohra and from Hum Aapke Hain Kaun to Mohabattein...It had all!!! It took us way to a fantasy land for briefly. Those and many other songs had soul in them. The theme was simple and composition brilliant. Till this day i hum to those songs and every time the nostalgia increases more.. and of late, the music of nowadays is nothing short of giving you a feeling of having had a concussion. Infact it downright makes you more 'stressed' no doubt some songs do make you hum to their tunes but overall the quality is no longer there. That applies to movies as well. Less said there

Generally life was much simple. No technologies to bother you and evenings and nights somehow appeared longer with a craving to make it worthwhile. It was much safer to travel at both day and night time and inflation was generally reasonable. The breadwinner could afford to raise a family of 6 reasonably well and still get time for him or herself.

All is not lost though in the current age. Technology has helped millions improve their lives. mobile phones and Internet has brought people much closer than ever people as well as being cheaper. Ccience has advanced making things possible which, years ago,was just a dream.

I guess all is not bad after all. The perception to it is what matters and how much you adjust to it. Let me wind up here and might as well listen to 'Munni Badnaam Huui' tune. again..
